The Manager for Ocean Product will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of CTX’s ocean freight operations, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of cargo across global trade routes. This role requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and deep expertise in international ocean freight management to deliver operational excellence in line with CTX’s values of trust, speed, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategies to optimize ocean freight operations, including carrier selection, route planning, and cost management, to meet company objectives and client requirements.
Negotiate contracts and rates with shipping lines, carriers, and vendors to maximize profitability while maintaining high service levels.
Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in ocean freight operations.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, customs requirements, and industry standards governing ocean freight operations with a thorough understanding on internal security programs such as FMC, ISO, CTPAT, AEO, etc.
Collaborate closely with sales, customer service, and other internal teams to align operations with business goals and deliver exceptional service to clients.
Work with stakeholders to manage and respond to RFQs, RFIs, and RFPs.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including shipping lines, port authorities, and customs officials, to facilitate smooth operations and resolve issues proactively.
Analyze performance metrics and KPIs to evaluate operational efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the performance and status of ocean freight operations, including financial performance, service levels, and key initiatives.
Lead and manage the ocean freight operations team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure optimal performance and professional development.
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in ocean freight operations within the international freight forwarding industry, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Strong knowledge of ocean cargo procedures, regulations, and documentation requirements.
Proven track record of successful contract negotiation, cost management, and vendor relationship management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute plans to achieve business objectives.
Proficiency in freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office suite.
Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of customs regulations and international trade compliance is preferred.
